World’s Most Extraordinary Homes is a British documentary-series. This show follows architect Piers Taylor and actress Caroline Quentin as they travel the world scoping out different houses. Together, they travel from Japan to Sweden and even to places in the USA showcasing different incredible houses.

In Season 2, they go to Spain and visit an underground residence that seems totally empty. However, they find out there were doors behind each room full of ordinary things that you’d find in any household. The minimalistic style intrigued both Caroline and Piers as they toured the home and took the viewer along. This show is for you if you’re amused by witty commentary while viewing incredible houses.

Home (Apple TV)  

Home is a new documentary series on Apple TV that features homes all around the world built with a sustainable approach. The show focuses on different countries and cities alike and various levels- ranging from futuristic projects to practices any typical homeowner can implement in their homes. In an episode, viewers learn about Gary Chang who lives in a 344 sq ft apartment. Chang’s use of his apartment simply changes on what his needs are at in the moment. If he needs to eat, he shifts some items around to create a table. When he needs to sleep, he pulls out his bed.

In an interview with House Beautiful, the director and executive producer Doug Pray says “The series is just as much about the homeowners and the concept of innovation and big ideas and solving problems creatively as it was just the house itself.” This is to say that the show isn’t just about the unique design of the house rather, it also tells a story of the family and why they created their home the way they have. However, the renters quickly realize with the help of Genevieve and Peter, that there must be something interesting about your property- whether it’s a gift basket welcome for your guests, or colorful complimentary bagels in the morning.
