This Upper East Side penthouse includes 5,000 sq ft. of terraces with 360-degree views of Manhattan. The architect is Edward Segal, the designer is Ernie De La Torre and the general contractor is Scordio Construction. It features a luxurious master bedroom suite, sprawling terraces, and an elegant living space.

Terraces

The multi-level terraces are equipped with a full working kitchen, green lawns, ipe wood pergola, and sunbathing areas. The lower terrace includes suntanning lounge beds and an umbrella and tree-shaded living and dining garden.

Architect Edward Siegel states that “for the upper terrace, we designed a custom stained ipe wood pergola in front of an existing exterior fireplace and added an exterior tv above the firebox. This pergola pavilion overlooks a lawn garden that ends at a water feature topped by a metal hammock pavilion. In anticipation of outdoor dinner parties, we designed a stainless steel cooking station, which includes an outdoor grill, refrigerator, ice maker, and sink.”

Living Space

This upper east side penthouse living area, with its stunning views and 10 ft high ceilings, features a two-sided travertine fireplace. Siegal mentions that “while the living, dining and den spaces were predominantly kept as is, a few things were done to correct existing architectural problems. New lighting and audio/video improvements were added here as well.”

Upper East Side Master Bedroom

Two existing dressing rooms were demolished in order to create this luxurious master bedroom suite. The back wall panels were fabricated and templated in New York. Then they were shipped to France so that the panels could be laid up by hand with straw marquetry. After that, they were delivered back to New York and installed as the backdrop to the master bed and nightstand.

Corner pilaster cabinets on either side of the bed were added to provide additional storage space and to mimic columns located on the other side of the room. In addition, new lighting and audio/video improvements were added throughout. Our client was amazed by the transformation.
